Cottonwood Farm
Cottonwood Farm in Las Vegas is a one-of-a-kind destination for all those who love the outdoors and the rural lifestyle. This majestic farm is nestled in the valley of the Spring Mountains, just outside of Las Vegas. The property spans over 600 acres, with rolling hills and meadows home to many species of wildlife.
The farm has been around since 1885 when it was first established by settlers from Texas looking for fertile land to grow cotton. Today, it remains one of Nevada's premier destinations for outdoor recreation.
Here are some things you can do at Cottonwood Farm:
Hiking
Cottonwood Farm boasts many hiking trails with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The trails wind through meadows and pastures, where you can glimpse bison, horses, deer, antelope, and other wildlife. There are also several ponds on the property where you can go fishing or bird watching. Just make sure you have the proper permits if you plan on fishing.
You can find some spots to rest while admiring the scenery during hiking. Additionally, there is a 30-foot observation tower for panoramic views of Las Vegas Valley.
Camping
The farm offers primitive camping so you can enjoy the beauty of nature without having to leave your sleeping bags at home. The terrain allows access to over 40 acres of open spaces with more than 50 individual campsites scattered throughout. Each campsite has spaces for tents, campers, and RVs. All the facilities are basic, but there are picnic tables, fire rings, and restrooms with running water.
When you plan camping, don't forget to bring your own supplies and food, as the farm does not provide any. Mosquito repellent is also recommended since the area can be quite buggy.
Painting and Photography
Did you know that Cottonwood Farm is also a popular destination for painters and photographers? It has beautiful meadows, ponds, wildlife, and views of Las Vegas Valley in the distance, so it's an ideal place to capture nature's beauty on canvas or through the lens of a camera. On your visit, you'll find many areas begging to be painted or photographed.
Off-road Driving
If you're feeling adventurous and wish to explore Cottonwood Farm in a different way than hiking or camping, off-road driving is an option. A designated area has been maintained and kept open only for this purpose. It has various terrains for level 1 (beginner) and 5 (expert) drivers. You can bring your vehicle or rent one from the farm's rental facility.

In addition to outdoor activities, Cottonwood Farm offers several events throughout the year, such as music festivals, horse shows, art classes for kids, and movie nights under the stars. Make sure to check their schedule beforehand so you don't miss out on any fun.
